Indian Deity Who Drinks Liquor Shree Kal Bhairav Temple Ujjain



If you get to know that there is temple in India where deity of temple drinks bottles of liquor offered
by his devotee then you may not believe on it but this is absolutely true and amazing. This temple
located in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh State of India with name Shri Kaal Bhairav Temple and its
Deity is Shri Kaal Bhairav. Daily hundreds of devotee come over here with faith and hope to offer
Liquor to the God.
Fascinating thing about the offering is that, when devotee offers Liquor to the deity, he accepts the
Liquor lively in front of all. What happens is that the Temple Priest keeps the Dish Plate filled with
liquor near the mouth of the idol and the statue of Deity starts drinking slowly the Liquor from the
plate and the level of liquor starts come down gradually in the Plate and the Temple Priest takes back
the plate only when all the Liquor is finished. It may sound unimaginable, but it is true. All this
happen in front of devotee and repeated many times for many people by priest of temple.

The idol statue drinks hundreds of bottles in a day on festive seasons. No one knows where all liquor
vanishes but this has been happening since ages and continues as this temple is hundreds of years old.
Kal Bhairav, an incarnate of Mahakal or Lord Shiva, is popular for “consuming” alcohol. There is no
formal estimate of how much liquor is offered at the temple but people are believed to present several
hundred liters of alcohol to the idol every day.

thing noted the ‘vaahan’(conveyance) of Lord Kaal Bhairava is a black canine. There is a statue of
canine facing the idol. People often come to this place to see the miracle of drinking God Shri Kaal
Bhairav.
